A Warm and Joyful First Family Game Night at PS 220

This past Friday, December 5th, PS 220 Title 1 committee hosted its very first Family Game Night, and despite the cold weather, our families showed up with warmth, excitement, and incredible school spirit. Parents and children filled the room with laughter and energy, creating a beautiful reminder of what makes our community so special.

The evening featured four fun stations—Math Relay, Bowling, Word Match, and Wheel of Fortune—and students were eager to jump in, challenge themselves, and cheer each other on. Watching families play side by side and seeing smiles stretch across the room made the night truly memorable.

As with any first-time event, we noticed a few areas where we can grow. But even with the natural kinks that come with trying something new, the overwhelming response from families was joy. Parents shared how much their children enjoyed the night, and many left asking when the next Game Night would be.

Their excitement is exactly why we’re looking forward to bringing Game Night back next year—stronger, smoother, and even more engaging. Each event in our Brain Builder Series is a step toward building connection, confidence, and community, and Friday night reminded us just how important these shared moments are.

Thank you to every family who bundled up, came out, and made our first Game Night such a success. We’re grateful for your support and can’t wait to continue creating meaningful experiences together.
